Selena vs Hailey. The most polarising beef of our generation.
My life, over the past two weeks, has been filled with this whole “Hailey vs Selena” BS.
I AM TIRED OF THIS MESS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN LEFT IN 2014
I have tried everything in my power to escape it and I just can’t. What kind of juju has Justin done on these girlies for them to be going at it for years?
I wouldn’t classify it as “beef” when the entire thing is being fuelled by conspiracy theorists and Selena’s weird obsession with Justin.
I decided to do a deep dive to find out why the entire internet thinks it's okay to harass a woman over a relationship that expired over a decade ago.
Because they haven’t learnt anything from the tragic deaths of people like Caroline Flack. It’s only #Bekind when something tragic happens.
The victimisation of Selena Gomez needs to be studied by psychologists. The internet has been successfully fooled into believing Selena is a perfect angel who can never do any wrong. But I’m here to break it to you girlie is MESSY. Despite Justin and Selena breaking up a century ago, she’s still weirdly obsessed with him. Liking old pictures of them together and interacting with accounts that still ship them are just some of the peculiar things Selena has done in recent years. Justin getting married hasn’t stopped her weird obsession either. Yet the internet seems to think it’s Hailey with the crazy obsession. THE CALL IS COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE.
Selena was a big part of my childhood. 2022 was a big year for her. Her makeup brand “Rare beauty’’ has received raved reviews. Selena has also had success on her show “Only Murders in the Building” where she not only starred in the show but also executive produced it. (I would 100% recommend watching the show). YET she keeps finding herself in drama.
Selena, I love you, but you need a new therapist.
For those of you who don’t know and are living under a rock, Selena dated Justin Bieber from 2010 to 2014. They stopped dating almost a decade ago. A lot can happen in a decade. And a lot did. Justin met and married his wife, Hailey Bieber. He has been happily married for 5 years and somehow the internet has managed to construct this wild fantasy that he hates his wife and is in love with Selena.

This whole ‘Team Selena’ and ‘Team Hailey’ debacle does not sit right with me at all. I’m not a Hailey ‘stan’ but the way the internet has collectively decided to turn on her is horrifying. Cancel culture is toxic and useless. There are famous men accused of abuse winning awards, but the internet has decided to cancel Hailey for getting the guy. This isn’t some Disney Channel original movie. Hailey is not this villainous character that swooped in and ‘stole’ Justin from Selena. Seeing the internet turn on Hailey Bieber on behalf of Selena Gomez is just plain WRONG.
There are over half a million TikTok’s, over half a million Instagram hate comments and thousands of tweets harassing Hailey. All in the name of defending Selena Gomez. People might think it’s a cute little joke, but these are actual people you’re harassing.
This whole thing is so unhinged. It kind of feels like an episode of “Black Mirror”.
The internet has let people think they can get away with saying the most despicable things about strangers. Bring back shame and bitch slapping.
Who made you Selena Gomez’s spokesperson? I honestly want to know what people think will happen. Do they think Justin is going to read how his wife ‘bullied’ Selena, divorce her and get back with Selena? BFFR.
The psych patients have escaped the psych ward and are now harassing children
Selena is a grown woman who knows the power and influence she holds. So when she keeps commenting on TikTok’s that are calling Hailey a bully and shading her, she is opening the floodgates and sending her goons to harass the woman. That isn’t very “kill 'em with kindness’’ is it Selena?
This whole situation perfectly captures the ugly side of celebrity culture. Do people realise these are actual people with feelings, not SIMS characters? Seeing people believe these baseless claims accusations against Hailey has shown me how stupid people are. I fear for our future. This whole situation just proves that people cannot think for themselves and prefer to operate as a hive mind, creating fantasies that see Selena as the poor victim of Hailey Bieber.
Eyebrows not on fleek?
People lack basic comprehension skills. I blame the schools being closed during COVID lockdowns. This whole can of worms was unleashed after crazy stans thought Kylie Jenner was shading Selena. I will refer to this as “eyebrow gate’’. Earlier on in the day, Selena posted a video about how she messed up her eyebrows. In a completely unrelated post, Kylie Jenner posted a picture of her and Hailey on facetime to promote her new mascara. Crazy stans took Kylie posting her and Hailey’s eyes as ‘shade’. I know stupid.
Kylie rightfully defended herself and even Selena agreed there was nothing shady about the post and all was good. So why is the internet calling Hailey a bully? And why has Kylie been branded a ‘mean girl’.
You would think Kylie and Selena agreeing that there was no bad blood would be the end right? WRONG! This was just the beginning.
A week before eyebrow gate, Hailey posted a TikTok with her friends. Like any normal person would do. The crazy Selena fans took the video as shade towards Selena. But Hailey quickly shut down those rumours. Hailey then carried on living her life and paid no further mind to the crazy fans.
The crazy stans decided to dig up the TikTok and convinced everyone that Hailey was body-shaming Selena. Even Selena believed it.
Selena then got a little trigger-happy with her keyboard and started to comment on a bunch of videos that pushed the narrative that she was a victim of Hailey. The internet ran with that narrative and now Hailey is being harassed on an astronomical level.

I strongly believe Selena is smart as hell. She knows exactly what she’s doing when she posts certain things.
Just a few hours before eyebrow gate she posted a clip with the caption “I wish I was as pretty as Bella Hadid’’. Bella and Selena also shared an ex. Selena has a history of being weird. So, what did her crazy fans do? They started harassing Bella Hadid and commenting how ‘Selena was prettier’’. Complementing fishing is a LOW Selena. When will the internet learn that we do not need to tear women down to uplift others?
Selena herself has a pattern of weird behaviour when it comes to Justin Bieber. When Justin was dating Sofia Ritchie a few years ago, Sofia was unfortunately the victim of racist abuse from Justin’s fans. Justin called out the racism and Ms Selena was in his comments BLAMING HIM for the racist abuse Sofia was facing.
I personally think Selena’s friends hate her because they let her constantly embarrass herself.

Hailey’s biggest crime? Being a Belieber. Are we forgetting that Hailey was a teenage girl who happened to like listening to Justin Bieber? Calling her a stalker, yet you’re on Beyonce’s internet trying to connect everything she does with Selena.
The same girlies whose Wattpad libraries are full of the nastiest NSFW fanfiction are calling Hailey a stalker? I’m dead.
“I heard Selena took a shit and then Hailey did the same thing OMG Hailey is such a stalker”. That’s how dumb you sound right now.

What I find weird is Hailey getting a tattoo to commemorate her marriage to Justin and Selena getting the SAME TATTOO on the SAME FINGER after Hailey. But you don’t hear people talking about that.
One thing that amuses me is how stupid and gullible people are. How can someone confidently say that Justin only married Hailey for a green card? Someone has been watching too much 90-day Fiancé.

If you were to take away their fame, this whole situation is CRAZY. Millions of people creating these delusional Wattpad stories on a relationship they know nothing about and bullying a person for allegedly bullying Selena. Selena is a 30-year-old multi-millionaire, I promise you, she doesn’t need you defending her.
‘Defending’ is putting it nicely. It is straight-up harassment. I have seen comments telling Hailey to UNALIVE herself and wishing other horrible things on her.
Commenting ‘who even are you’ under her Instagram posts is just embarrassing. I don’t know, who is she? She’s important enough for you to be commenting on.
It’s crazy because if you click on the accounts leaving the hate, you will see it’s a mother of 1 with a bible quote in her bio. Not very Christian of you, is it?
All I see are grown men and women projecting their insecurities.

The funniest thing about this entire situation is that crazy Selena stans are having streaming parties for the song “Beauty and the Beat’ because Selena is mentioned in the song.
Let’s be real, any money that is being made from that song is probably going into Justin and Hailey’s joint checking account. They’re laughing all the way to the bank. I hope Hailey treats herself to a new bag.

Don’t get me wrong Hailey does have a chequered past, you don’t have to love her to notice that this whole situation is wrong.
Once again Selena is a 30-year-old woman. The only thing she is a victim of is a bad therapist. Stop painting these white women as defenceless beings who need people fighting their battles for them.
I say let them fight it out in the boxing ring if it’s that deep.
The same girls who get social anxiety from ordering food from a restaurant have suddenly found their voices to bully and harass Hailey in the name of feminism and defending Selena.
I’m glad Hailey and Justin haven’t dignified those crazy rumours with a response. It’s not the first time something like this has happened and it won’t be the last.
Selena. I hope you’re finally able to move on. Live your life. Get your bag up girlie. STAND UP. You’re doing the absolute most for a man that has moved on. Rare beauty is THAT brand, you’re getting nominated for all these awards. Just move on and close that chapter in your life. Stop playing the victim.
No man is worth embarrassing yourself over. Have some self-respect. If you were truly a Selena fan you would tell her to STAND UP and preserve whatever dignity she has left. This broken-hearted schtick only lasts a short while. It’s giving desperate. Focus on the bomb-ass blush and award-winning TV Show Selena xx.
